Before Running QIE

Before you attempt to access the Qvera Interface Engine (QIE) for the first time, please make sure that you have completed the following steps:

This tutorial assumes that the QIE server has been installed and configured and that you have been given a QIE username and password with the appropriate privileges to create and modify QIE channel (interface) configurations. Please refer to the QIE installation guide for instructions on how to complete these steps if they have not already been completed.

Ensure the Workstation Meets Minimum System Requirements

Before attempting to access the QIE console, please ensure that the system meets the following minimum system requirements:

  • Compatible Browser: See the section below for details on compatible browsers.

  • 1.0 to 2.0 GB of available RAM: Running QIE from the Google Chrome browser (or IE plug-in) requires 100-150MB of available memory (RAM). Running QIE from the Firefox browser requires 200-250MB of available memory. The available memory on the system can be determined from the Performance tab of the Windows Task Manager application.

Install and Configure a Compatible Browser

The QIE management console is a web-based application. It utilizes the latest JavaScript and HTML-5 standards in order to deliver a rich, interactive and intuitive user experience. Because not all browsers fully support these standards, QIE requires one of the following compatible browsers:

  • Google Chrome™: Version 87 or newer

  • Mozilla Firefox™: Version 78 or newer

  • Apple Safari™: Version 14 or newer

  • Opera™: Version 73 or newer

  • Microsoft Edge™: Version 87 or newer
