Why does the script editor put a period and a space ". " instead of two spaces " " when I type two spaces.

When typing in the script editor, when i type two spaces it turns into a period and a space.

Why?

If you are on a Mac computer it has a keyboard setting meant to do this replacement.  To turn it off, try this (older macs may vary):
 

Open System Settings.

Go to Keyboard.

Under "Text Input," click the Edit... button next to "Input Sources."

Toggle OFF the switch for "Add period with double-space."

Click Done.
