The first place to look is in the logs directory in the qieHome directory. In Windows 2008 and later, the default location is here:
C:\ProgramData\QIE\logs\qie_installer*.log
If there are issues with the install, sometimes this log was never copied from its original location. The log file is initially created in the temp directory of your Windows server. In Windows 2008 and later, the temp directory is here:
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Temp\Setup Log *.txt
Issues with installing can occur when running as a non-administrator or reinstalling QIE while it is still running.
