There are two ways to export a certificate as explained below.
1. When using the Application -> Export Configuration menu option if private keys and/or a Certificates (called a key store collectively) are chosen for export then they will be included in the export file.
In addition, the nightly backup configuration file which is the same as the export configuration file will also contain any private keys or certificates.
Note: When exporting certificates using the Export Configuration you will not need to know the private key password, but it will be required on import.
2. The second way to export certificates is from the "Certificates" tab either under the Global Settings or Zone. Selecting Export from the top left corner of the page will launch the export dialogue. From this dialogue either the Private Key and/or certificate can be exported. When exported together a Key Store password will need to be provided to secure the certificates in the export file. In addition, if a private key is chosen to be exported then the private key password will need to be provided at the time of export.
Warning: Private Keys should never be shared with anyone outside your organization and should only be exported for the purpose of backing up the key or moving it to another server.
Note: Knowing the private key or key store passwords will be required when importing the certificates back into QIE whether from the Application Export Configuration or Global Settings/Zone tabs. Key Store passwords are created at the time of export using the Global Settings/Zone tab option.
