HL7® FHIR® DevDays Emphasizes Community and Collaboration

The HL7 FHIR standard enables straightforward, secure and specific data exchange across health IT systems. We at Qvera are eager to champion interoperability and value-based, patient-centered health care — so this week, we’re very excited to participate in HL7 FHIR DevDays, a FHIR-focused event for health IT professionals.

DevDays (June 19-21, Boston) aims to unite new and experienced FHIR developers and grow the FHIR community through learning, idea sharing and networking. Its name is appropriate: Instead of giving a majority of time to lectures, the event will focus on development, allowing plenty of opportunity for actual FHIR experience through hands-on sessions led by industry experts.  Attendees will learn through short presentations and tutorials, then practice what they’re learning alongside peers who can offer help, collaboration and feedback.

Qvera’s CTO, Ron Shapiro, will attend DevDays both to gain insight from community members and to support others in their discoveries. Ron is an active participant in the FHIR community and a co-chair of HL7 International’s FHIR Modeling and Methodology work group, and his Wednesday presentation on “FHIR and the Apple Health Kit” will demonstrate how FHIR enables data sharing between the Apple Health Kit API and EMR systems.

We’re looking forward to being part of this exciting event, collaborating with talented developers and industry influencers to move health IT toward greater interoperability, innovative solutions and high-quality care.
