Qvera Offering Free Support to AMA/Google Challenge Developers Using QIE

This month, the American Medical Association (AMA) announced their AMA Health Care Interoperability and Innovation Challenge sponsored by Google, a contest that aims to inspire creative new mobile healthcare technology solutions.

Eligible entries include tech like new mobile apps and wearable medical devices that help patients and providers interact with patient-generated healthcare data (PGHD) in meaningful ways.

Developers must show how the technology

  1. Imports or transfers PGHD into “one or more phases of clinical care” (such as assessment, goal-setting, treatment or intervention — see official rules for more details), and
  2. how it extracts or transfers PGHD to a patient’s mobile device for further action.

Three winners will be chosen to share $50,000 in Google Cloud credits, and ideas are due by June 7.

Qvera wants to help you win

Qvera is not eligible to enter the challenge — but we believe in supporting innovative efforts to promote greater interoperability between patients, wearables, and clinicians.

If you use QIE Standard to develop an entry and you win the AMA contest, we’ll upgrade you to QIE Enterprise with five channels for no charge.

Plus, we’re offering access to customer support for all entrants while you work on this project.

QIE, wearables, HL7® FHIR® and Apple HealthKit

The AMA says solutions that focus on data sharing are “of particular interest,” and they’re looking for tools that can make data from wearables “accessible and actionable.”

Data sharing for accessible and actionable use just happens to be where QIE excels.

Here’s an example from Qvera’s own Clinical Workflow with Wearables demonstration at HIMSS18:

“Qvera demonstrated how the Qvera Interface Engine uses several data formats and transmission protocols to share useful information from a mobile blood pressure monitor, seamlessly and securely. […] We also emphasized that QIE doesn’t just send raw data as it’s recorded, overwhelming clinicians and databases; instead, data can be extracted, filtered and aggregated, then directly integrated into a patient’s care.”

QIE leverages HL7’s FHIR unique ability to query for only the specific information you need — a huge component in optimizing providers’ time and improving clinical outcomes.

Interoperability depends on access

We’re serious about making excellent health IT accessible to everyone who needs it. That’s why QIE Standard, our free two-channel version of the Qvera Interface Engine, is limited only in scale, not in functionality.

We believe interoperability has the power to change the way we do healthcare forever. It opens doors for improved care, lower health care costs, better patient-provider relationships, and less frustration all around.

So download QIE Standard and start those wheels turning — we can’t wait to see your ideas.
