Baptist Health Jacksonville Standardizes on the Qvera Interface Engine, QIE

Baptist HealthKAYSVILLE, Utah, April 24, 2015 – Baptist Health Jacksonville is standardizing on the Qvera Interface Engine Enterprise Edition (QIE) to facilitate interoperability (data exchange) between more than 10 different EMR and PM platforms across a network which includes 25 physician groups and 5 hospitals. Baptist Health utilizes QIE to easily exchange data between their Ambulatory, Hospital and Acute Care Healthcare IT Systems (HIT) which include Allscripts TouchWorks, GE Centricity Practice Solutions, GE Centricity Group Management, NextGen Ambulatory EHR,  Siemens MedSeries4 and Cerner Millennium.  Baptist Health has also integrated QIE with their IBM Master Data Management and EMPI (Enterprise master patient index) solutions as well as their Health Information Exchange (HIE) systems Cerner Clinical Exchange Platform and DB Motion.  Baptist Health Jacksonville has been using QIE to meet their interoperability needs since 2012.

Utilizing the Qvera Interface Engine, patients are able to have a single point of connection and a unified experience with the Baptist Connect patient portal which is powered by Influence Health (formerly MedSeek). QIE eliminates the need to maintain separate patient portals for each of the ambulatory care centers by normalizing the data from the disparate HIT systems and consolidating it into a single enterprise patient portal.

“We are one of the only health systems that has been able to pull off this level of integration with an enterprise patient portal,” said Seth McCracken, IT director at Baptist Health Jacksonville. “There is no way we could have done that without QIE.”

Baptist Health Jacksonville is now evaluating using QIE to replace existing technology for their lab and radiology report interfaces.

A contributing factor for expanding the licensing contract with Qvera was product training and support.

“Qvera brings to the table an unequaled technology in both ease of use and flexibility coupled with useful training and support for the user,” said McCracken. “I work with about 50 vendors and I rarely come across one that is as transparent and helpful about their technology as Qvera.”

“Everyone within healthcare benefits when complex data integration needs are met with flexible and easy-to-use interface tools,” said Sam Shapiro, president and CEO of Qvera. “Baptist Health Jacksonville is an excellent example of a health system preserving the freedom of choice for its physician groups to use the systems that work best for their unique environments without sacrificing meaningful use compliance, the patients’ ability to access their health information, or overall data interoperability.”
