10/18/2011 - WESTMED Chooses QIE to Enable Health Information Exchange
KAYSVILLE, Utah, October 18, 2011 – WESTMED Medical Group has chosen to implement the Qvera Interface Engine (QIE) to enable health information exchange with hospitals and other healthcare organizations in their community. While QIE will enable WESTMED to easily manage all interfaces between their various healthcare IT systems, they are particularly interested in QIE's comprehensive support for managing the exchange of Continuity of Care Documents (CCD) as well as QIE's integration with regional and state immunization (IIS) registries.
“Qvera will allow WESTMED to integrate our best of breed systems for both internal and external organizations in order to further meet our quality and efficiency goals,” said Dr. Simeon Schwartz, president of WESTMED Medical Group.
After attempting unsuccessfully for several months to implement a health information exchange interface using another legacy interface engine, WESTMED turned to QIE and was able to complete a proof of concept implementation in a matter of days. QIE's ability to integrate at a very deep level with WESTMED's electronic medical record system has allowed it to automate the generation of CCD documents. QIE's flexible web services layer will minimize the effort required to implement secure, bi-directional interfaces with its health information exchange partners.
“When providers can collaborate by exchanging relevant clinical data, the quality of care goes up and costs go down,” said Sam Shapiro, president and CEO of Qvera. “We are very pleased that WESTMED has chosen QIE to meet its interoperability needs. WESTMED has long been recognized as a leader in the healthcare industry for its innovative use of technology in automating clinical workflows and increasing the quality of patient care. We look forward to helping WESTMED achieve its quality and efficiency goals through its use of QIE.”
